that’s so awful. chicago brownstones are probably my favorite builds. how is the historical preservation there? any groups?

i will say saint louis has been really good about preservation lately, but because of the fact that developers can still buy the buildings being persevered, they just let it rot and get destroyed out of pettiness for not being allowed to knock them down.

When I lived there was not much preservation but left in 2005. I lived in Lakeview area and the brownstones were coming down fast for condos. I rode the El everywhere so walking saw it all the time. Not long ago I did a street view drive aeound old neighborhood. Seems the condo push luckily slowed.
