Please meet my new friend Fluffy, a Marimo algae, which looks like a ball made of moss, but it's actually a live form of green alge. Marimo only occurs in a few places on earth. It is a very rare phenomenon. They shall grow about 5mm in diameter each year, and can live to be one hundred years old.

Wow that’s cool. Do you add anything to the jar or is it self contained?

Just need to refresh the water every 1-3 weeks and squeeze old water out of the algae.

But will search for special "food" to improve growth if possible.

Got it in a local flower shop, where we bought also our flower for our wedding. Just saw, that one can order it also in Amazon. Just search for Marimo.
