Yes…. When we first came to Vancouver in 1997, you could buy a detached single house on the west side for ~$400k.

Now, nothing on the west side is below $2 million… a one bedroom condo in downtown now costs $600k, more than a single house from 1997!

How fucked it is that.

It's crazy to me how many people view it as their main investment, too. Not realizing they'll always need a place to live and if they sell, they'll be buying/renting into that same market. A friend of mine literally told me his $200k house is his retirement plan. He's so fucked.
