I am currently following closely what Emad Mostaque (ex Stability AI) is doing with his Intelligent Internet project. Essentially personalised autonomous software agents that follow a shared set of rules called The Common Ground Protocol. It is a decentralised open source alternative to the big tech offering, basically a buffer between you and the black boxes of the incumbents that works for you, not them. Their II-Agent is in beta and I am already using it exclusively. Mostaque’s ideas are worth a look. I haven’t yet found an alternative that makes better sense.
