I don't understand how 3.7% inflation causes over 100% in price increase on groceries and other products.

I actually do but anyway, food for thoughts.πŸ˜‰

I've been buying meat for homecook in the last 5 years. And the prices of meat in Thailand has increased more than 100% since Covid. CPI from the gov is bullshit.

We are only bad at math πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Hey, I went to Hautpschule!

2+1+ 000000 = 21,000,000!

cuz is public formula, realone is different

2%, the "target" gives you doubling every 35 years:

1.02^35 = 1,999889552662455165696859397607876

1.037^19 = 1,994327011228170843897777950702988

If the prices double in 5 years (about what has happened) then it must be actually this:

1.15^5 = 2,0113571875

Also, they never consider the supply chain dislocations caused by such epic inflation. Incentives are all screwed up when it comes to inelastic demand, like housing, food, medicine. That's why they are the highest inflating.

Meanwhile, the cost of producing a mobile phone is more like 10% deflationary. It shouldn't be a surprise therefore that such items have become such an obsession these days even though they are basically time wasters.

I didn't expect this reply. Thanks! As for this 2% target... wont happen. Not for the EUR anyway.

I am a sucker for some back of the envelope calculations to illustrate a point :D

Do you really trust those sources? I expect those numbers to set whatever supports the narrative they are pushing.

Trust your own experience over their bullshit.

Did you really if I trust those people? 🀣

not my day. I meant to say, did you really ask... πŸ˜‰
