Sit around the fire, kids, quick – gather 'round, I’ve got a story for you! 🔥

So, here’s the deal: yesterday, nostr:npub14q8uffuxxnhzd24u4j23kn8a0dt2ux96h5eutt7u76lddhyqa0gs97ct2x was out here, sending plebs some sats on chain, like a true legend. No big deal, right? I was just sitting there, chilling, and thought I’d join in. I fired up my Blink wallet, sent out an address, and Uno sent the sats without a hitch.

But then... things got interesting. I found out that Blink wallet charges a whopping 5,000 SATS for on-chain transactions under 1M sats! Can you believe that? Like, 5,000 SATS just for sending a small amount on chain?!

Man, that’s a straight-up way to steal from the little guy. It really hit me. I mean, if you were going to charge fees for small transactions, wouldn't it make more sense to charge 5,000 SATS for transactions over 1M SATs??🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Only logical, right?

But no, instead, they make it harder for people to send smaller amounts, which totally goes against the whole point of Bitcoin. Are we really discouraging on-chain transactions now? Seems like it.

Now here’s where the plot thickens, kids. Check this out – the transaction Uno made? 3478 SATS total, sent to me. You can even look it up. I’ll prove it to you. Here’s the transaction ID: https://mempool.space/tx/c45ab582b2d5bd51166258fe80eecc0e90360c9f188dc7e443899fc7ccfd893e?mode=details . Go ahead, check the transaction details, if you don’t believe me.

But wait! That’s not all. Now here’s the plot twist – do you know where those sats went after that? Drum roll, please... I checked the second transaction ID, and guess what I found? 🥁 🪘 stick around for part 2.

Seriously though, if you’re gonna charge, make it fair, man! If you’re Blink, why not charge 5,000 SATS on transactions above 1M sats instead of charging from the little guy who’s just trying to send a few hundred sats? I mean, is this daylight robbery? 🤦‍♂️ But hey, bid’ness is bid’ness

Anyway, that’s how the story goes. But here's the moral for you all:

1. Custodial wallets? They’re bogus. Don’t trust them with your sats.

2. Always send sats to a wallet YOU control. Keep it safe, keep it smart.

And that’s the end of the story. Tadaa! 🎉

I’ve been getting 2 sat fees on my 21 sat zaps after setting up Alby hub and lnd on start9 and connecting to a few channels.

bid’ness is bid’ness . are they charging you for delivering your sats ?

I’m ok with 2 sats, i personally set my own routing nodes up with 0 sat fees but 2 sats seems fair even if it is a 10% charge 😬

just because they don’t want to use millisats . could be less

Now you mention it don’t think I ever saw millisats as a routing fee option when i set up a lightning node.

Phoenix 🐦‍🔥 by acinq does have that . Many are working with sats.

I got hit with some pretty big fees from phoenix in the past but that was a while back so will check them out - would be cool if you could get a non custodial phone wallet that doesn’t charge a lot of sats.

yea whats up with that ? Fee credit ?? Seems every operator has their own terms. I was using phoenix on desktop and received sats and they deduct all of it for ‘future fee purposes’

Setting up lnd and albyhub has been the lowest cost and easiest way to go that I’ve found so far. I can’t get into custodial wallets just feels weird.

That’s a big fee

That’s what I thought. Have you felt better? Recovered from the cold? 🥶

Yes I am, thanks man 🫂🐶
