My understanding is that Bitcoin Magazine Ordinals (NFTs on the bitcoin blockchain) are being auctioned off.

NFT stands for Non-fungible token. The whole premise of a bitcoin as a base layer monetary value is to actually be fungible. 1 btc = 1 btc. Saying this bitcoin ordinal is worth 10 btc when you bought it for 1 btc is not congruent with the network. Thus, buying/holding any Ordinal on the bitcoin network should always equal its btc value and nothing more.

Non-fungible and bitcoin dont really mix together, just like water and oil dont mix.

Ordinals can take advantage of the bitcoin network through its security, censorship resistant properties, and other aspects of the network, but not the value of the underlying btc value assigned to the block.
