Never cheap out on disks. Or you will regret it at 5 o' clock in the morning.

It should always be about quantity, not quality... After all RAID used to mean a redundant array of inexpensive disks.
What’s your goto disk atm?
For the first time in 16 years i have a broken disk in my nas. The previous time i had a broken disk in my nas was in 2009 when i had raid5 and because i had bought all my disks at the same time at the same place within a matter of hours a second one gave up and the raid became unreadable.
Now i'm running on zfs raid-z2 with an additional global spare that immediately kicked in the moment the first error occurred. Ordered a new disk and will replace the broken one today. In a way i'm glad i finally get to do this because i'm happy that the choices paid off.
