Money is too important to be managed by the government. If there is a central bank that, with a mandate from the state, can issue money at will, that is statism, not capitalism.

For free market capitalism to exist, there must be competition between currencies. What's more, throughout history, humanity decentralizedly chose gold, until states confiscated it to set up this crude imitation consisting of fractional reserves backed by public debt.
