It seems to me that #Bitcoin2023 is the antithesis of the what #bitcoin represents.

I strongly believe Bitcoin to be the best form of money humans have ever discovered, but I think that fact should be dealt with quite seriously; not at the centre of a party in Miami.

The internet revolutionized human communication by removing physical limitations and risk from interaction with one another. People who appreciate money built around that fact shouldn’t have any interest in conferences revolving around said money.

What, in the world of bitcoin, can you hear/see at #bitcoin2023 that can’t be sufficiently announced/marketed online?

That’s cool you’re excited about bitcoin, just seems like a dumb way to get wrenched and/or closed on (sold to).

Yeah, seems a little silly.

From a parallel experience, I have found that connecting in person with like-minded individuals from a niche, and mostly online, community can be a really positive experience that can keep you going and strengthen relationships.

Seeing posts of convention booth marketing giveaways, i.e., flip flops and other such soon-to-be-garabage, just seems like empty consumerism.

People look like they having fun, though, so I can't complain. Just not my scene.

when you're in person, you just engage in a different way and to a heightened extent then you can accomplish remotely. for me, my attention and focus are naturally amplified in person at an event like this.

of course there's the natural, human connections that you couldn't encounter online...

just being surrounded by enthusiastic bitcoiners from around the world, each with their own story, progress, and personal vision...

I've met people at events like this that have significantly moved the needle for me in one way or another, and never would have crossed paths with them if we had not both been enthusiasts at the same industry event.
