The “passphrase magic,” as you call it, served me well with my first hardware wallet, the Trezor hardware wallet…the Trezor is easily hacked with physical access to the device, unlike the coldcard which is resistant to at least fairly expensive sophisticated attacks on the hardware. But my passphrase paranoia was already part of my backup plan, so I kept it when upgrading to a better hardware wallet.

@nvk was as no dummy in the coldcard design, but there’s no reason _for me_ to revert to hardware based entropy only.
