Thought experiment:

The US government requires compensation for [fentanyl deaths, illegal immigration, pick your poison] to be paid in a certain amount of Bitcoin to a specific address.

The US government does not care who pays but if payment is not made tariffs will follow.

What would happen?

The government would presumably make money, if someone pays. But fentanyl deaths would continue.

That doesn’t solve anything other than the government taxing people more.
