BlueWallet is sunsetting its Lightning node, Lndhub.io, where Lightning wallets are provided to its users. While withdrawals are still possible, creating new or refilling existing wallets on LndHub is not. The service will end on April 30, 2023. BlueWallet will now only support self-custody solutions. https://bluewallet.io/sunsetting-lndhub/

This is good! Right. Right?
I think it is kind of good news in a way. They stated they decided to do this because they were boot strapping the lndhub ecosystem but now they feel the self custody solutions are quality enough to not need a centralized system. I think keeping that consideration in mind it's good news we've progressed this far.
That being said I have to wonder if this is more to do with avoiding regulators as being one of the top custodial solutions for lightning. With zaps taking off and more and more value routing through them I have to wonder if regulatory issues were the real factor.
I kinda like Blue Wallet. I've only used it connected to my own nodes, but it seemed like a straightforward recommendation in custodial mode for newcoiners, especially if they are stuck on using that fruity phone OS. Hope they have a business model in mind (whirlpool maybe?) to keep the development going.
