Just spent 90 minutes trying to lossen up a front drivers side (front right, i'm English forgive me..) wheel.

Its sized on with corrosion and for reasons involving a stubborn partner id rather not have to drive it about to losen it.

Any suggestions to free it from the mechanics of nostr ?

I only have axle stands and limited access underneath....

You talking about the lug nuts?

Have you got a tyre iron? You maybe need to oil it (WD 40 or something similar to eat rust) and then literally stand on top of the tyre iron and bounce.

My ford tyres sieze up too and standard cranking isn't possible, have to like bounce on the tyre iron and loosen it up.

Requires elbow grease China!

Nah, got the nuts off, but the wheel it self is stuck to the hub by rust and a lot of time being stood..

Might be time to loosen them and take it for a very slow drive round the block....

Use a board or a sacrificial hammer against the frame and the power steering. Leave nuts on loose so the wheel doesn’t just fall off and have someone turn the steering. Use that force to pry the wheel off.

the wheel is stuck to the wheel hub? did you try lifting the tyre up and off, sometimes it hooks on the lug bolts. But yeah interesting..

Yeah, even put a piece of wood across and sledged the hell out of it.

It'll have to go up on a lift so someone else can get behind it... πŸ‘πŸ»

Start by soaking as much at possible with penetrating oil.

(There are quite a few and I've used most of them, I don't have a particular one in mind.)

Loosen but do not remove the lug nuts.

With the wheel/tire on the ground, turn the steering back and forth. (Start engine if necessary)

Short movements back and forth should start to break the wheel free of the hub.

If that fails. Applying heat to the wheel/hub joint will be necessary.

Thanks for the advice, my farther in law popped round with a trolly jack and with the extra hieght manged to get it off πŸ‘πŸ»

But theres some good advice in there I'll remember if it happens again.

Thanks πŸ‘πŸ»

You are welcome.

Glad you were able to get it taken care of.

Sludge hammer. Not kidding. Tap all around until success

Just got the message my partners dad got it off. A trolly jack helped with the extra height πŸ‘πŸ»
