What does YouGov have to do with anything? This survey was conducted by Cato, primarily to measure opinions about central bank digital currencies. Interestingly, most CBDC supporters were also in favor of in-home government surveillance cameras.
Discussion
Survey is conducted by yougov on behalf of Cato. Yougov electoral rating is actually not bad B+
I’m not so trusting on the way they phrased the question and it’s likely that age group just doesn’t read into things on these types of surveys.
YouGov is mentioned nowhere in the report. I don’t know where you’re seeing that.
Why don’t you trust the way they phrased the question? Don’t you think that when the government sells intrusive surveillance it’s typically couched in “safety and security” language? They never say “we want backdoor access to your phones because we crave social control.” It’s sold as a means to protect against terrorism, abuse, crime, etc.
