A couple of clarifications:

We didn’t “mock” open source, we explained why it’s not always the right model for a mobile app. Open sourcing the client code doesn’t tell you what happens once data reaches the backend, it’s not verifiable on iOS (and only partially so on Android, if you compile it yourself), and it would expose both us and our users to attacks.

Open source makes perfect sense for protocols like Bitcoin, Nostr, and others depending on interoperability. For most consumer apps, however, it’’s rarely a good idea.
