⚡️⚡️Rheinmetall seeks to build tank plant in Ukraine

German defence contractor Rheinmetall is in talks with Kiev to build a plant in Ukraine that would produce up to 400 state-of-the-art Panther tanks a year. This was announced by the head of the company, Armin Papperger, in an interview with the Rheinische Post published on Saturday.

Around 200 million euros are to be used for the construction of the Rheinmetall plant. Papperger pointed out that up to 400 tanks could be produced there annually. Talks with the Ukrainian government were "promising" and the group expected a decision "within the next two months".

The Rheinmetall chief assumes that Kiev will need 600 to 800 tanks. He stressed:

"Even if Germany were to provide all 300 Leopard-2s it has, that would clearly be too few."
