Unfortunately, yeah. After rebasing and merging to master they should be counted tho.
Private repos are also not counted AFAIK. ☝️

Yeah they gamified commits which leads to certain behaviors. You are pushed into forking repos and removing the upstream, working on master instead of branches, disincentivize rebasing.
Very happy to see more devs call out github. We need to mass defect from their monopoly. Make grant orgs aware. Publicize all the shitty outcomes of this system.
