Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, stood firm during Emperor Diocletian's persecutions. When commanded to offer sacrifices to idols, he refused, declaring his allegiance to Christ. Despite pleas from his family and threats from the authorities, Irineu remained steadfast. He was beheaded for his faith in 304 AD.
