In 2012, my HS best friend started talking to me about bitcoin. As graduation approached he started saying that I should buy some with my graduation money and skip going off to school. I didn’t listen.
I spent all my money on having the absolute cutest coziest dorm room I could design… just to transfer home the next year.
Then in 2016 I dated a guy who purchased bitcoin for illicit items on the dark web. He put a wallet on both our phones loaded with some bitcoin. I can’t remember how much … which is always in the back of my mind. The seed phrases were written into a love note for me to keep. The items purchased ended up taking his life and I was so pissed I tossed the card and deleted the wallet app.
It would take a few more years for someone to explain the cantillon effect to me for me to truly understand what bitcoin meant to my life. Once I got it that was it. No shitcoining, no horror stories… yet 🤞🏽
Just a series of being dense, not listening, and misplacing blame 😂😂
That’s for the detail! My condolences to the family and friends of your late boyfriend. 2012 Bitcoin for dorm room decor- yikes That Hurts! Similarly…Moving expense/ buying furniture on overstock.com via crypto in 2018 is something I am guilty of. I laughed at the time and thought I used fake money to fund 7,000 bucks worth of a real expense. Had I held on I would have had over a million by now in various coins.
