Calinic of Cernica, born in Bucharest in 1787, felt a deep calling from a young age. Instead of worldly pursuits, he sought solace in the teachings of the Church. One day, while still a young man named Constantin, he visited the Cernica Monastery. Impressed by the monastic life and the spiritual atmosphere, he secretly left his home and family to join the brotherhood. His parents eventually found him, pleading for his return, but Constantin remained firm in his devotion, choosing a life dedicated to God.
