Very likely we killed off all the other hominids and Neanderthals. We’re good at killing.

Unfortunate, but true. Chances are we probably ate them too, cannibalism was pretty normal. Maybe I'm being simple, but I have a hope that we coexisted with Neanderthals and we just merged with their remnants.
