I’m an old fart (51) & only days on this platform & in process of trying to learn more about self custody of Bitcoin. My hard earned Bitcoin is still on an exchange as I’m not that technical & scared of putting it on a Blockstream Jade currently. I need to learn more as never interacted with the blockchain etc so trying to learn more & build my confidence 🤞🏻🙃
No need to mix the sats you receive on here with any you have elsewhere. Simplest would prob be to load walletofsatoshi.com onto your phone, you would then have a lightning address which if you go to your profile on nostr (& huge congrats on getting yrself onto nostr) and edit profile bit (looks like paper and pencil) and add your new lightning address into "ln address", save it and you are good to receive more sats to add to yr stack.
Wow ok thank you for the advice ☺️. I’m on an iphone, should I download the walletofsatoshi on the App Store? Is that safe? Sorry if I appear a bit thick 🙈. If I can get my head around all this I’ll show many others how to also which will increase adoption even more.
My situation & it’s bigger picture is the epiphany of why Bitcoin is being adopted (self custody) so slowly.
I would like Bitcoin as our new global standard money, I would like freedom, fair money & privacy back in our societies globally but I don’t know where to get safe help/advice on how to self custody the Bitcoin I own which is currently sat on an exchange.
I’m scared to move my bitcoin into cold storage even though I know it’s much safer & better for all of us collectively, it’s a real conundrum. I’m in the uk down in cornwall & have struggled to find another experienced bitcoiner who could teach me or help - I need the Obi-Wan Kenobi of Bitcoin down here
The app store shoyld be perfectly fine. Its very quick to set up.

Okay thank you very much for your help & time so far, I’ll make that my next mission/learning curve & will install it when I get back from work tomorrow. Maybe if I at least install a hot wallet first it might help me learn a bit more about sending/receiving SATS etc……👍✌🏻
