what’s the resource for relays these days?

are some relays better for specific clients?

i use damus.

i don’t mind paying.

I get the sense you experience diminishing returns if it’s over, plus it eats your phone data

I’m paying for a few. Noticed better performance when I added the first (nostr.wine) and then added a few more. Not sure if those helped but suspect they did.
