They are aiming for a community run decentralised search engine, you can run a node and it's privacy focused. It works, it's not google, I keep using it.

After basic searching, I find it similar to a Brave browser approach; they're "crypto", but don't need to use any of the tokens or other nonsense.

I use it within Brave browser and get both when I'm online, I've connected my phone and laptops so it adds up, slowly.
