There is much focus on the cross, and for good reason, but that just brings sinners to "neutral" as it were. Neither having and demerit worthy of eternal wrath, or any positive merit worthy of eternal life. Christ's perfect obedience imputed to the elect through faith is why we are seen as righteous before a holy God.
