Good Morning Nostrverse.... The 3rd Annual NOSTR Superbowl Square Board has been set. For anyone not knowing how a square board works, I'll give a quick explanation.

The square board is setup as a 10x10 grid which provides 100 squares. Once all 100 squares are taken, each square is randomly assigned a square. Then each axis of the grid is randomly assigned a number between 0-9. At the end of each quarter of the Super Bowl, you take the last digit of each team's score, map the location on the grid, and that gives you the winner for that quarter.

Some boards will pay out evenly each quarter and some will payout at a rate of 20% for quarters 1,2, and 3. Then pay the balance at the end of the game. This builds excitement as the game plays out.

Now for the 3rd Annual NOSTR board. Here's how it's randomized. 100 squares were purchased via BTCpayserver allowing me to control the inventory since this game is being played around the world. Once all the squares were taken, I loaded all participant NOSTR handles into excel. I then assigned a number, using the random number generator function and ran the command 5+ times creating a new number each time. Then I sorted the list. Then the list was split into the layout of the 10x10 grid. Then I assigned the random number generator to each list of 10, sorted it 5+ times. Then I assigned the player's NOSTR handle to the grid. Lastly the same series of steps was used to assign the numbers to the x and y axis of the grid.

Now that you know how it works and I maintain the board independence in creating the grid, be sure to keep an eye out for next year's game board if you're interested in playing.

Thanks for doing this. Any chance to see the gameboard somewhere online? I hate google but google sheets is a nice option (and could have been used to watch the drawing!).

I only publish the static sheet on NOSTR. I’ve thought about doing a live video of the process but have never been able to coordinate it. Maybe I’ll try that next year. I know theirs supposed to be someone live-streaming the game on nostr:npub1z0lcg9p2v5nzg5fycxq0k56ze6snp42clmrafzqpn5w6u74v5x9q708ldk but I don’t think I’ll be there. I will keep up with the scores and post winners as timely as possible though. If interested in the livestream, check worjn nostr:npub1mu9wmykl7qx5llk69axd3rvk0hzhdd25jsqtj2hmnzjpn2sxum6s8jjj0t

Awesome. That works fine and now i see the squares on your post 🤙

A guy in our bitcoin group did something similar with google sheets and shared the public link so anyone could see the sheet in real time as he was entering in the names during a pre-specified time. Also it keeps a history of changes (or lack thereof once complete!).
