The vaquita is also an important flagship species for conservation. The primary factor killing it is well known, as is the action required to stop this. Put simply, the nets have to go. To safely achieve this, the vaquita's core remaining habitat must be actively protected. If we can't save this species, when the remedy is so clear, can we really expect to save any other population or species?
