bitcoiners, who wants to help fund this little guy’s recovery?

on Saturday, i found a dog dragging himself around along the side of a high traffic street in Trinidad, after apparently being struck by a car.

his back legs weren’t moving and i noticed that he was painfully dragging himself along by his front legs in an attempt to shelter from the rain, and out of the way of the cars.

he was covered in fleas and ticks, quite emaciated, and seemed really scared at first. i saw that he had a collar, so clearly at one point he had a home.

i was able to get him comfortable with my presence, and eventually managed to give him some water and food (yes they’re leftover pancakes 😅) while we made a ton of calls to emergency transport services and vets. https://video.nostr.build/7f5b7bce9b5290e5c431b223e292e951fc65360976b3e4e81ca6e24d99cfc4ff.mp4

after about a dozen calls, we were able to find a service (Pet to the Vet) who was willing to take him to a nearby veterinarian.

Marguerite is amazing. i found out she’s actually taking care of 41 stray dogs and she was on her way to cook food for them when we called!

in exchange for Marguerite taking her afternoon to help us out, i offered to buy kibble for the doggies.

so in the end, i managed to get the little guy to a vet and all it cost me was 4 bags of kibble and a hug.

Marguerite didn’t want to take my money! https://video.nostr.build/71ac51b62e19ab53c76e0b1195b13da17f4532930c884f06e0c8f252f553bb2b.mp4

after getting to the vet, they were able to x-ray him with the main concern was whether or not he had spinal cord damage.

while his left hind leg is dislocated, and there’s some spinal compression, the vet said it’s not end stage. his words were “i’ve seen worse cases walk again”.

so where are we at now?

the goal for the moment is to stabilize his condition, and keep him comfortable while we figure out a longer term plan.

that means pain medication, cleaning him up, IV fluids, food, and a comfortable place to sleep, while we work with the vet to see if there’s a good path to rehabilitation 🙏.

i’ll be checking in on him throughout the week and i’ll share some progress updates with y’all.

when i saw first him, all i could think about was how i’d feel if the same thing happened to my dog Mika.

i’m also a bitcoiner.

to me that means i’m always asking myself: “if not you, then who?”

we’re often the unlikely activist in a room full of skeptics and cynics.

an activist for financial rights, human rights, and hell even animal rights!

i’ve been covering the costs and am planning to do so as long as i can.

if you’d like to help contribute to his recovery❤️‍🩹, you can send a donation 👇
