SHOUTOUT: Someone should make a new browser extension to store signing keys on desktop.

The fact that nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm is discontinuing its basic version at the beginning of January is a big loss for nostr and for all options for using nsec as a login. I have used and supported Alby from minute 1 because it is a great application, but the fact that the guys are only opening their doors for a fee will lead to a loss of users in the long term for the whole scene and not the other way around, even if you can host it yourself. I understand that they also have to earn money but not everyone has the know-how or the money (at these prices) to run a node themselves (especially newbees) and paying 10k or 20k sats per month for an Alby node is just too much, especially as a private person. For companies it's OK because you also benefit from the other Lightning features and can use them profitably. For private individuals, however, this cost-benefit analysis is not clear to me and I have the impression that Alby is degenerating into a sats milking machine. What a shame. Think about it! OI*NK

btw. you can just keep using nostr as before.

for payments you can use the extension with many many wallet connections.

the alby shared node is not needed.

That answers not my question. I mainly relate to the key signin' application, especially on desktop bumi. That was a main use for me. The wallet function was an additional profit.

nothing changes there.

you continue to just use it.

and development is continued there as in the last years.

OK, thank you very much, then I was simply poorly informed.

Maybe you also want to keep your basic custodial service and charge higher payment fees or a small monthly fee.

You are doing great work and I will continue to support you 🫶

thank you!!

appreciate that! 🫶
