The most followings harboured is here by bitcoin maxis and bitcoin community. They often engage in very ugly disputes woth normies when they try to get some informations on their lifestyle. Resulting in a lot of bad energy from bitcoin community and they leave... is it possible that nostr is suffering in "normie" waters due to that?

It's definitely part of it.

That and people not understanding how to use social media without an algorithm that feeds them stuff.

Nostr can be a little tricky to understand in the beginning
