If open source projects wish to gain mass adoption, funding should allocate the same or greater amounts to product designers.
It doesn’t matter what cool features people ship, if others can’t figure out how to take advantage of them, it’s all for nothing.
Devs spinning out features for other devs are great for devs but shit for others.
The amount of devs I speak to who think product designers are a “nice to have” is mind boggling.
Companies either see them as the most important people and they get paid so or as someone that does some design. Nothing in between.
Product designers unite and please fight for the future of actual products.
