went to the local butcher shop last night…

for once, there wasn’t a school kid behind the cash register- instead there was a thin tall butcher i’d never seen before!

we scrambled to get some oil to cook in, since we were about to head up into the mountain rental and forgot to pack the oil (but not the cast iron!)

the man kindly gave a suggestion to use the fat on the side of the ribeye since they only had butter at the shop.

it was clear he was in the “know”. i had to strike a lil convo, while my friend gathered eggs and bacon for breakfast.

the butcher revealed he was not only a butcher there but also a partial owner and told us about his upbringing on the farm. i am highly curious though he had many wise responses to my plethora of questions. it was so lovely connecting 🥰

anyways- he ended up throwing a huge discount on the order AND giving us a 2lb steak for free 😳

this moment, and so many others i’m sure you can recount, just goes to show how fundamental human connection is.

How fundamentally, connection is the open door to compassion and community.

how just these little moments allow us to tap in to that divine unity and deeply sense our part in the collective whole.
