Would you like a computer program where you can add all the writings or transcribed speech you have on an ancestor for it to train an AI model that would allow you to sort of speak to that ancestor? Maybe someday it could be trained on 360 degree, 16K video footage showing their entire life, which could make it quite realistic. How would you use it? Might you text with it frequently? Video chat with it on anniversaries of their death? Ask it to recount to you their memories? Ask it advice? Compile information from your own life for training a virtual you?

I’m super split on this….I know the positive always has the negative, and those that want to use it harmfully….but I absolutely love where technology is able to move humanity when it’s used for good!
Totally agree. Like imagine using it to talk with a digital semblance of one’s mother who died during childbirth. Wow. At the same time, it really isn’t the same person, and that might matter in certain questions. So fascinating. I think I would probably collect the data and let my descendants decide whether they want to use it with their understanding of the risks. Especially if the data can be always hosted privately, and maybe still if it can only be hosted privately until the training.
