anyhow, it's impossible, of course. bigger numbers mean longer sequences and then the subsequent bytes would impact the sort order. big endian. the end. also negatives? nope. have to be stored as unsigend big-endian integers and then subtract 2^(n-1) where n is the number of bits in the integer.

anyways, i don't need negative numbers for sizes, times and sequence numbers
