While it was common for young Roman men to be the ward of an older male as a coming of age process many of Julius Caesar's contemporaries mocked him for his very close relationship to his gaurdian the King of neighbouring Bithynia. The epitapht 'Queen of Bithynia' even came to be given to Ceasar by his enemies
