It’s true that there are better holistic solutions. If it’s difficult to make a Roku player it may not be worth pursuing and I see your position and point. It seems like Roku apps are straightforward to build and maintain compared to mobile apps (I could be completely wrong there, they just seem like simple apps that don’t update often).

There are 80 million active Roku users as of 23Q4, and you’d be one of ten installed apps on the device for most people. That’s a decent surface area for engagement on a platform where every app has purchases.

OK so 80 million Roku users and 3 BILLION android users ...

I wonder what the disposable income metrics of those 80 million rokus vs the 3 billion androids are

ROKU: for poor old people who can't afford cable or a new TV set and too stupid to use an interface more complicated than TV remote.

do you know what 80 million is ? 60 mil live within 60 mile radius of Shanghai. 80 million is nothing.

that said, i am shocked it is growing. my cousin got it like 10 years ago and i figured my grandma is as stupid as him so i got one for her then.

crazy people still use it.

🤷 it works. agreed on scale of the numbers.
