GM. Sometimes we all wake up less than refreshed, feeling sluggish and heavy. It turns out #Adenosine levels are to blame. #Sleep clears out Adenosine and leaves us well awake in the morning if all goes well. However, if we sleep too little, Adenosine builds up and we have a low energy day.

That's why a lot of us use caffeine, which blocks Adenosine receptors and mitigates its effects.

That's only temporary though. The Adenosine doesn't vanish, but stays in the system. Once the effects of caffeine wear off, we are back to feeling sluggish and weak.

So at best #coffee and other caffeinated beverages are a quick, temporary fix, but not a cure. The only cure is a good night's sleep with optimal deep and REM sleep cycles.
