The people of Valencia have been selflessly helping their fellow citizens, bringing food, medicine, water, vehicles, tools, water pumps and tractors.

The government is trying to restrict access to all these people because it has simply made them look ridiculous.

The Spanish government confiscates practically half of the GDP of the Spanish people and has been unable to help 500k of its citizens for 4 days and not only that, it is preventing the people from helping.

There's a reason for this.

Government employs first responders and disaster management.

Karen with a shovel is more liability that good, especially when government does not ask for civilian involvement.

The problem is mainly that civilians are untrained, will loot, will end up in danger and require rescue. Civilians can also kill others by sheer incompetence when a first responder could have saved them.

It's not about civilian help, it's about reducing casualty and dangers.

Rather, ask first, stay clear of first responders teams and help in other ways.

AND THIS GOES FOR ANY DISASTER.

I've witnessed some crazy shit as a volunteer firefighter, let alone civilians just getting in the way of critical life saving time and efforts.

There are more than 500k affected and the only help we have is 1500 military after 4 days.

I have had to go myself to bring food and water and help the people in the villages.

I thought you wanted independence, self sovereignty and less government involvement?

Don't complain when your own your own, here in South Africa, we've always made a plan, because we know government won't help.

Maybe this is why I'm having a hard time understanding the complaints.

Would you have not helped if government stepped in with the 4 days? I mean, deployment is stepping in, but yeah

This is not complains. All know that in real need the governments do nothing. This is just underlying a reality to wake up people that do not get it. There are still stupids that think giving away 50% of your income is justified. They all need to understand what is that money for.

The complaint and the problem is that they haven't. As of yesterday, they had sent 500 soldiers. And Valencia has one of the major HQs of the Spanish Army, with untold amounts of equipment that is intended exactly for situations like this: mobile bridges, heavy machinery, bulldozers, trucks, etc.

What's going on in Spain right now is the vilest blame game among the different political mafias imaginable. The lowest, most corrupt behavior imaginable.

Why is disaster management so bad in the West? In the USA a few months ago, it was the same story.

If Valencia is flooded, how can they respond? Lol use your head, People from outside of Valencia will have to bring in logistics and that takes time.

4 days is nothing. In a world of instant gratification, you expect heavy haulers to teleport? We don't have that tech yet.
