I have never appreciated Bojack Horseman. Fundamentally, telling a tragic story is a worse way of exploring a set of themes than telling a story that builds to a happy ending.
The creators of the show were upset because they found out that some people who related with Bojack Horseman had the wrong takeaways, and interpreted his behavior in the show as validating their own poor behavior.
But because the show doesn't build to a happy ending, the creators are left without a vehicle to refute these fans' interpretations.
