Maybe in the late 80' or 1990's.
Spain is celebrating national elections soon and the 2nd most important party on the left wants to give 20,000 euros to everyone turning 18 to study, train or set up a business.
That is 10.1 billion Euros within 1 year.
Giving 10.1 billion Euros within 1 year to all turning 18 is double the 5.4 billion Euros budget allocated to Spain's public health system for 2022.
Giving 20,000 Euros within 1 year to all turning 18:
- Represents giving them 72% of the GDP per capita.
- It's roughly equivalent to Spain's gross median salary. They would get it for doing nothing.
What do all the people working hard, waking up early and going to bed late to make ends meet think about this?
With this proposal, the Spanish government will print out of thin air an additional 10.1 billion Euros every year.

It’s crazy what people will do
That's been one of the most disheartening inherent incentives in our political system.
Political tactic to get votes....promise a specific demographic some "free" sh!t. That demo is guaranteed to vote for you.
Folks fail to realize or make the connection, nothing is free.
Nothing is free. Never.
