Opensourcing all public infrastructure down to the firmware I am totally on your side. I think no tax dollar should be used for propriatary software, when open source alternatives exist.

Working on Linux, opensource clouds and with fsf-recommended standards for files used should be the standard.

I am fine with companies making money with improving code and solving bugs. But really I think every opt-out data collection should be illegal. Datacollection should have to be opt-in by law.
