Re: Inscriptions

We need to have a way to store non-transaction data to have a way in the future to leave our mortal coils behind and upload our consciousness into the Blockchain*

Thus becoming a species of pure energy, indestructible, immortal, travelling the universe with a speed of light 🌌⚡

* Only if you have enough sats for the transaction fee 😅

At 4MB max it's still a really awful data storage network. Can't even upload a high quality jpeg so people have to flood it with low quality garbage.

At 4 mb max for now.

I don't believe this limit will be the same in 10 years, much less a century

That's what BTrash is for

Shitcoins aside, is it really that unreasonable to assume any Blocksize increase with the increasing availability of high-speed internet and big storage?

After the Ordinals debacle? Good luck 🤣

Anytime soon? Yeah I think it’s unreasonable.

Is ten years soon enough?

You already have big blocks, it's called BTrash.

So I assume you're running a pre-SegWit node, since you seem pretty adamant about opposing any Blocksize increase, right?

if only we had a platform for exchanging notes hmmm

Bad perspective.

Large non-transactional data is best stored on various bitcoin L2 hosting services. Having backups on several hosting services will be sufficient for redundancy. If one backup is lost, other backups will provide cover.

As an artist, I can't store a high resolution image of my art on bitcoin L1. Why? Because a 4k x 4k (or 6k x 6k) artwork in PNG format is absolutely huge in size.

Why does this matter? It matters because I can't publish high resolution proof-of-work with watermarks on bitcoin L1. As a result, it would be pointless to post my art on bitcoin L1 in any size. It's not the proper medium for that. Anyone can falsely post other people's art without high resolution proof-of-work.

Decentralization of art will involve multiple platform hostings, combined with hosting proof-of-work of the artwork process. There will be companies/groups dedicated to hosting art on bitcoin L2 with costs paid by user traffic and donations.
