Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) Radio aka Moonbounce is Inspiring Electronic Musicians to Create New Music Delay Effects.
Radio signals can be bounced off of the surface of the moon in a process called “moonbounce”. This technique has been in use since the WWII and is still practiced today by radio amateurs. Although radio waves move at the speed of light, the moon is far enough away that there is a delay for the radio signal to get to the moon and return back to earth. There are other properties of the moon surface and radio waves that also impact the signal on the received end. This effect is now being used to create new musical delay effects such as the one in this video, “Echos from the Moon”.
