Yeah. It's fine to change the constitution in ways that further respect individual freedom. (Abolishing slavery)

It's not fine to alter it in the opposite direction. (The citizens are responsible for the governments debt == "We are abolishing chattel slavery... Btw all citizens are now slaves to the debt")
