Yeah. The goal was initially quite vague 'learn keyboard'. And I'm just following the book and the corresponding YouTube video which goes through it. But yeah I suppose I was curious if I could do it, learn to read sheet music, play sheet music. With an idea of learning melodies, chords etc etc perhaps to help with ideas for attempting to make music. But initially/really as a stand alone learning task.
Discussion
I was a private music teacher for 8 years. Without seeing/discovering where your current ear/brain/body cooperation is at, the best advice I would often have to give adult students was to give themselves a minimum of 2 years (more or less) before making any sort of self capability assessment. And as a follow on, keep some sort of record of progress to look back on. The inner critic can be brutal. I have never met anyone who couldn’t learn to play keyboard/guitar/drums, or learn to read some form of notation or understand western music principles.
