the eyes of passing strangers

in their thousands

every glance

a prayer unanswered

I listen

ears straining

for the passing melody

of her laugh

the whisper

of her contented sigh

I yearn

to feel the brushing

gentle, soft, caress

of her fingers entwining mine

I breathe

unconsciously but unerringly

hunting her floral scent

the remembered notes

of the blush on her cheek

I dream

of the day

our weary, traveled hearts

will rest

finally home

at peace

in our embrace
