Recommend windows for gaming. You don't need a license to install windows

I game on Pop_OS and it works great. Not every game is supported, but generally you’ll be good

If you need system stability, then Windows is currently still probably the best. I did pretty well using Pop_OS and X Box cloud for a while before I repurposed that machine for a home server. It's highly dependent on having a consistent stable internet connection.
