I'd argue that traditional heating methods contribute A LOT more to the climate change argument.

Bitcoin miners can not only serve two but three purposes: Heating, hashing (thus contributing to #bitcoin overall network security) and aligning incentives for better efficiency by paying its owner a portion of that electricity expended. This would only mean that the mining rigs would become more efficient over time, while hashing more and consuming less.
