The concern is that increasing surveillance, justified under the guise of protecting children or enforcing #security, can lead to significant curtailments of individual #freedom and #anonymity, echoing the power structures of past regimes that sought control over all aspects of life. The #Gulags serve as a historical reminder of the dangers of unchecked state power, and the implementation of Digital ID and online surveillance could be seen as a modern-day parallel, where the state and corporations could potentially misuse data and remove #privacy in a similar bid for control.
